Gin Fizz
A timeless cocktail from 1800s New Orleans. Light, tart, and bubbly – a classic that never goes out of style.
About Gin Fizz
Gin Fizz is a fresh and bubbly cocktail that mixes gin, lemon, and soda water. Simple ingredients, but when combined, they create a drink that’s light, crisp, and easy to love. The recipe has been around since the late 1800s and became especially popular in New Orleans and later during Prohibition in the US. Today, it’s still one of the most well-known gin cocktails.
So what’s in a Gin Fizz?
Start with gin for a little spice and herbal notes, fresh lemon juice for that sharp citrus kick, and simple syrup to balance it out. Egg white is often added for a smooth texture and a soft foam on top. You shake everything first without ice to build the foam, then again with ice to chill the drink. Finish by topping it off with sparkling water for that refreshing fizz.
Gin Fizz works just as well as a pre-dinner cocktail or a cool drink on a hot day. It’s easy to mix, but has enough flavor to feel a bit special.
