Hugo Spritz
A fresh cocktail with mint, elderflower, lime, and prosecco. Perfect for summer evenings in the sun.
About Hugo Spritz
Hugo Spritz is one of the best summer drinks around. With fresh flavors from elderflower, lime, and mint, topped with sparkling prosecco, it’s perfect for sunny days. The drink comes from northern Italy but has become a favorite in Sweden too.
So how do you make a Hugo Spritz?
Start with a big wine glass filled with plenty of ice. Pour in elderflower liqueur (or elderflower syrup if you prefer) and squeeze in a bit of lime. Fill the glass with prosecco and add a splash of sparkling water. Finish it off with some fresh mint leaves and a slice of lime. It’s simple to make but tastes anything but basic.
Hugo Spritz belongs to the same family as other spritz cocktails but has a softer, floral character. That makes it a great choice as an aperitif on a warm evening.
Swedish bartender David Kringlund has shared his way of mixing a great Hugo Spritz and recommends using lots of ice and choosing a prosecco that’s not too sweet.
A well-made Hugo Spritz is fresh, light, and bubbly. It’s the kind of drink that reminds you of holidays, summer nights, and good conversations with friends.
