As stipulated in the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, a “bonded” whiskey must be distilled by a single distillery during a single season, matured in a government bonded warehouse for at least four years and bottled at 100 proof/50% alc.
Jack Daniel’s Bonded is Jack’s time-honoured recipe of 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye. Barrels are carefully selected for their unique and special characteristics with deeper color, taste and aroma. It brings a darker, richer and more oak-forward character to Jack Daniel’s Bonded. It’s a big, bold 100 proof Tennessee Whiskey with layered notes of caramel, rich oak and spice that give way to a pleasantly long finish.
Portsoy is something quite unusual: a smoky and peaty whisky from northern Scotland. Such whisky was made in the Highlands and Speyside before 1950, before the great demand for unpeated malt from the blended whisky industry closed the malting floors and changed the distilleries' recipes.
Gentleman Jack was born in 1988 at the Jack Daniel’s distillery in Lynchberg, Tennessee. Just like Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, Gentleman Jack is charcoal mellowed before going into the barrel. Gentleman Jack, however, receives an additional ‘blessing’ as it is charcoal mellowed twice. Both before and after it has matured in oak barrels, which takes 4-6 years.
